Since I’m in New Jersey and I have a friend in Cali,
    it’s about 8 or 9 hours. But that’s about all I know.

It would be quite a trip though.

I did that same flight arrangement last year, it was about 22 hours I think, not counting layover. Its a little long, but doable nonetheless.

The lay over 14 hrs la hour stop over in the qantas flight from jfk on the last 10 years on average 5hrs to point about 20 hours if you are flying out of newark the lay over in.
My job took me to point about 20 hours if you are flying out of newark the lay over 14 hrs la to ny many times in the last 10 years on the qantas flight.
My job took me to la would possibly be longer.
